There's a need for more diversity because we can't authentically speak to marginalized communities while freezing the people in those communities out of the process of developing our voice. As for whether it's lack of a diverse talent pool or that it was closed off - it's both. I think the answer is - in part -to step up efforts to recruit, especially at the entry level. And train, train, train.
